Host Terence Rosemore Shares Thoughts on 2024 Awardees

The 2024 Artivist Awards are only a few days away! Today on the blog, our host, Terence Rosemore, shares his thoughts on the awardees.

Hear more from Terence in this short biographical video "What Makes an Artivist?" on YouTube, and read his full bio below.

It is a pleasure and an honor to be a part of  the Trinity City Arts 2024 Artivist Awards.

It is said that the two most important days in one's life are the day that you were born, and the day that you realize why.  All three of our awardees know who they are and why.

(L to R): I grew up in a typical extended New Orleans family. With Jamil Sharif playing music in the French Quarter.

I have known both Chakula and Ausettua for over thirty years and I have watched as they have selflessly impacted thousands of New Orleanians as educators, activists, performing artists and pillars of the greater New Orleans community. Chakula hired me for one of my first paid actor jobs in 1990. Ausettua ran the summer camp where I was working when my mother passed away in 1998. To this day I don't think she knows how much she helped me get through one of the most difficult times in my life. Though I don't know Spyboy Walter Sandifer personally, I can see by his body of work that he is already continuing the legacy of leading by example that his co- honorees have exhibited.

(L to R): As “Blurik” in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. As “Captain Terrance” in Outer Banks (Netflix, 4 seasons).  I play “Otis” in the cast of the new SUPERMAN (2025).

Join us at the 2024 Artivist Awards as we honor some of our greatest citizens and continue the legacy of New Orleans artists who are making a difference in the community.  If you can’t make it, bid in our silent auction or donate on our web page.  Thank you!
